Pharmaceutical Excipients is essential for those involved in the development, production, control, or regulation of pharmaceutical preparations. Internationally recognised, Pharmaceutical Excipients includes extensive information on the uses and properties of excipients bringing together global information sources and expert observations.

Pharmaceutical Excipients is celebrating it’s 40-year anniversary in 2026. The excipients field has evolved significantly over the years, which has been reflected in the development of the Pharmaceutical Excipients publication.

Pharmaceutical Excipients is published jointly by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and Pharmaceutical Press. The editorial team is based at Pharmaceutical Press, London.

About this Role:

We are looking for a European-based Editor for our Pharmaceutical Excipients product. The Editor will join our two existing Editors to support strategic direction of the publication by providing expert insights into the field, to feed into publication content strategy.

The Editor role is for an initial 3-year term and has an estimated time commitment of 2–3 days per month equivalent.

Support is provided by Pharmaceutical Press’ Editorial team.

Main Accountabilities:

• Advise on scientific style, process and policy, and scope of the content to maintain scientific quality;

• Support content creation though direct involvement with works in progress at any stage of the workflow, providing expertise with a particular focus on planning, approval, and identifying new or existing content for development;

• Support marketing activities and content creation to promote the publication;

• Participate in the editorial advisory board in a leadership role and assist in advisor and contributor recruitment, ensuring that decisions are made in the best interests of the publication and its users;

• Attend regular remote editor and advisor meetings, and annual in-person meeting;

• Act as an ambassador for and represent the publication where needed.

Essential Skills, Experience and Knowledge for the role:

· Expertise in the design, development, analysis, manufacture, and application of pharmaceutical excipients and dosage forms;

• Significant (10+ years), demonstrable experience working with pharmaceutical excipients/formulation;

• Industry, regulatory, or academic experience

• Strong research portfolio;

• Time and commitment to engage in online discussions, conduct content reviews, and attend annual in-person meeting;

• Passion for the pursuit of excellence and furthering pharmaceutical science;

• Good communication and team-working skills;

• Ability to maintain confidentiality as needed;

• A commitment to work within the framework of Pharmaceutical Excipients processes;

• Prior experience contributing to Pharmaceutical Excipients (desirable);

• Prior experience working in similar editorial roles such as author, advisor, peer-reviewer (desirable);

• Areas of interest may include biologics, bioengineering, aseptics, topicals and controlled release (desirable).
